Duvshaniot: Israeli Rosh Hashanah Honey Cookies (gluten-free version)

Happy New Year! Shana Tovah! A sweet treat for this new year to start.

Simplicity: easy

Time Consuming: 1 hour, 11 minutes.

Taste: sweet

Ingredients cost: from $ to $$$$: $

Recommendation: for the gluten-free version used King Arthur Flour. Also, I wrapped and give them as a gift.

I will make it again: Yes!

Ingredients:

3 cups flour gluten-free

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 unsweetened applesauce

1/2 cup honey

1/2 cup vegetable oil

Powdered sugar

Steps:

1-  Mix all ingredients, except for the powdered sugar, in a bowl.

2- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.

3- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

4- Sprinkle some powdered sugar on a plate.

5- Retrieve the cookie dough from the refrigerator. Pinch a walnut-sized piece of dough, and roll it between your palms to make a ball.

6- Roll the dough ball around in the powdered sugar, and place it on the parchment paper. Make sure to space your cookies, as they will expand during baking.

7- When all the cookies have been formed, bake them for about 11 minutes.

Enjoy it!
