New Delhi [India], September 30th (ANI): Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel visited the National Gallery of Modern Art on Thursday to review the third round of the electronic auction of prestigious and memorable gifts presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The electronic auction will be held from 17 September to 7 October through the web portal www.pmmementos.gov.in.
According to an official statement, around 1,348 souvenirs will be auctioned in this round of electronic auctions. Memories include equipment donated to the Prime Minister by the winners of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
He further stated that Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of India, who has decided to auction off all the gifts he receives for a noble cause of preserving the country’s lifeline: the Ganges River through ‘Namami Ganges’ . Patel said in a statement that the electronic auction offers an opportunity for the general public to possess the priceless memorabilia donated to the Prime Minister, while also contributing to the cause of the conservation of the sacred Ganga River. He thanked the Prime Minister for this innovative and noble initiative.
The javelin used by the gold medalist Sumit Antil at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and the javelin used by Neeraj Chopra at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are the items with the highest base price at Rs 1 crore each. The cheapest item is a small decorative elephant for Rs 200.
Also competing is the badminton racket signed by Krishna Nagar, gold medalist at the Paralympics.
In addition, there is a table tennis racket signed by Bhavina Patel, silver medalist, Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
According to an official statement, the proceeds from the electronic auction will go to the Namami Gange Mission aimed at the conservation and rejuvenation of the Ganges.
The Prime Minister has often described Ganga as a symbol of the country’s cultural glory and faith, and that from the point of origin of the river at Gaumukh in Uttarakhand to the point where it merged with the sea in West Bengal, the mighty river has enriched the lives of half of the country’s population.
