Noah Syndergaard of the Mets tests positive for COVID-19

New York Mets right-hand man Noah Syndergaard tested positive for COVID-19, the New York Post reported on Sunday.

Syndergaard, who is vaccinated, turned 29 on Sunday.

Syndergaard appeared to confirm the news in a tweet that said “This birthday is so sick”.

A second rehabilitation start for Brooklyn A-Class was scheduled for Sunday, continuing her recovery from Tommy John’s surgery in March 2020.

An All-Star in 2016, Syndergaard hasn’t pitched into the majors since 2019. He has an ERA of 1.50 in three minor league games this season with St. Lucie and Brooklyn, hitting seven and walking one in six innings.

Syndergaard is 47-30 years old with an ERA of 3.31 in 119 games (118 as a starter) since his 2015 debut. He has eliminated 775 batters and walked 166 in 716 innings.
